Through editing, you can manipulate time and space in a film, acting directly on the sequence of the images to give them meaning and narrative logic.
The editor organizes images to build a consistent rhythm of actions and thoughts, allowing him to lead the viewer into an emotional experience through a personal point of view.
Cutting, as a step of film production, is important both on the practical side – since it gives the film its structure – and on the aesthetic and therefore artistic side, since it affects the fluidity, the emotion and the very essence of the film.
The course includes a technical part, dedicated to the use of the workstation and to mounting practice, and an artistic part, dealing with the concepts and philosophy of editing.
During the lessons the students will practice using existing film clips; at the end of the course each students will be given a DVD containing their exercises.
