First phase: Study of the cinematographic language.
Second phase: Practices of cutting with the system 100 Medium and Avid.
Third phase: Cutting of the short films realized by the direction students.
The first phase faces all the problematic tied to the syntax and the grammar of the cinematographic language, in particular the rules and the principles of the art of cutting (See the program of Direction).
The School recommend the students to follow as auditors the direction courses in order to concretize this sort of interaction which surely will bring the future as cutter to have a bigger knowledge of its own profession. The task of a cutter is in fact to serve the author and at the same time to suggest him visual solutions, of synthesis, of rhythm and other inventions, considering that the artistic paternity of the work is those of the author-director.
During
the second phase, which can be developed at the same time as the first phase, the students will learn to use technical means (in our case the computer) and they will practise concretely the cutting, using already existing film fragments, or the shoot material from the students of the shooting course or, the films ones made by the students of the recitation course.
In
the third phase (period of March-April), the students will be able to cut an entire short film , based on their availability and to the artistic sintony that they have been created during the year with the directors, in a complete way: image, direct shoot, acoustic and visual sound effects, cutting of eventual dubbing, and final mixing.
